Up until now I’ve managed to fund XTronical privately, funding both the server and builds/equipment required. However as it’s growing and projected to grow I’ve started including adverts on the right hand side and small ones at the top and bottom of posts and pages. It really doesn’t bring in much at all, but the hope is it will at least over the next year fund the cost of the web hosting.
Ooh Err Missus….
However although I stopped gambling adverts appearing I noticed that adverts for dating websites, make money quick schemes and others wanting you to download some sort of “Helper” software were getting through. Looking at the stats available to me these were actually three of the biggest adverts (by amount) being shown. I would like to think that :
- The site is accessible to children without seeing scantily clad women sprawling across the side.
- That you are not tricked into downloading any software from what appear to be dubious sources.
I wouldn’t want my children seeing the images that seemed to have been delivered via the adverts, and I know that I would never click on one of the download adverts for the type of software I was seeing, so that’s just wasted advert space as far as I’m concerned. What I want is targeted ads appropriate to my content where actually you might find them of interest and useful and therefore click on them thus earning my website a very small “click” fee. So I’ve found further settings in my account to turn off these types of adverts which should see them not served to the site. So if you did see any that offended you then I apologise and please report any to me that you think shouldn’t be on here.
